Ghazal #265, Divan-e-Hafez, Khanlari

درد عشقی کشیده ام که مپرس
درد هجری چشیده ام که مپرس

I have suffered such pain of love- don’t ask!
I have drunk the dregs of such separation- don’t ask!

I have wandered the world to embrace
at last such a beloved- don’t ask!

In desire of the dust at his door, the water
of my tears has become such a torrent- don’t ask!

Last night, I heard from his mouth with my ears
such words- I can only say: don’t ask!

Why bite your lip in reproach- I have
chosen such ruby lips- don’t ask!

Without you in the hovel of my want,
I have suffered such torments- don’t ask!

Like Hafez,  estranged in the way of love,
I have reached such a station- don’t ask!

Mother Kali is beautiful and ferocious beyond belief

Kali is beautiful and ferocious beyond belief;
Approach her as a lover, and you will know soon enough!

Kali is not a mother who preserves the status quo;
She loves to destroy all that impedes her creative flow.

Kali is consciousness passionate to reveal herself;
She will rip limb from body to uncover her pure self.

She stands on her consort Shiva whose body appears dead;
He breathes and lives through her blood dripping smiling head!

She is Shakti and delights to display her holy prowess;
Her thirst for life is infinite and her courage boundless.

Kali is the dance of spirit through form with fiery love;
She is the ecstatic dance of bliss as all veils are removed.

Darvish loves his wild Mother for her perfect devotion;
She never rests from rescuing her lost desperate son.

Saudi Arabian and Israeli Thanatos

“The United States is close to completing a series of arms deals for Saudi Arabia totaling more than $100bn, a senior White House official said on Friday, a week ahead of Donald Trump’s planned visit to Riyadh.

The official, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said the arms package could end up surpassing more than $300bn over a decade to help Saudi Arabia boost its defensive capabilities while still maintaining US ally Israel’s qualitative military edge over its neighbors.”

This is great diplomacy: give the Arab world’s most cruel and despotic monarchial dictatorship more weaponry that anyone except the Israeli state of Zionist Apartheid! This is a win-win proposition of stunning stupidity!

Go America!

Trump the fall guy for our broken democracy

How long do we have to retch over the Baby Trump presidency, over our broken democracy? He has fired his FBI baby sitter, the feckless Comey, so he can sling shit with yet greater abandon. What’s new?

Congress could not care less about a viable and vibrant democracy. Trump is the perfect excuse for maintaining the status quo: corporatism and militarism without end! Not one senator will censure Israel for its longstanding  racist chauvinism of Zionist Apartheid. Not one senator will censure Saudi Arabia for fomenting slaughter in the Middle East. Not one senator will vote to censure the War and Surveillance Machine. Not one senator wants to champion Dr Kings’s dream of a America  shorn of greed, racism and militarism. Not one.

Not a single democratic (or independent) pooh-bah, including Bernie Sanders, will challenge the heart of darkness that is America. But we cannot get enough of the Baby Trump slinging his diaper full of shit in our face.

What is sufism, and who is a sufi?

What is sufism, and who is a sufi?

Sufism is historically identified with Islam as its esoteric and mystical dimension, based on a spiritual lineage that can be traced back to the Prophet Muhammad. Thus a sufi is (almost always) by definition a Muslim.

Yet some sufis, particularly those sufi orders deriving from Hazrat Inayat Khan’s efforts to bring sufism to the West in the early 1900’s, aver that sufism exists independently of Islam; that sufis have have always existed, and in fact go back to the time of Zoroaster. In this definition, sufi is a term that denotes a member of a lineage that derives its authority from a genuine saint or master whose authority in turn derives from a prophet (any prophet).

Thus, any genuine spiritual lineage is sufic by definition, although the term  seems to apply specifically to the Middle East.

Avatar Meher Baba, who claims to be the Prophet of our time, and identical to past prophets such as Zoroaster, Ram, Krishna, Buddha, Christ and Muhammad, validated that the veracity of sufism depends on a lineage composed of  saints or masters of the spiritual path, and not on religious identification.

Thus, because he is the Prophet of our time, Meher Baba is also the Sufi of our time. Eruch Jessawala, Meher Baba’s chief male disciple, once remarked to me in Mandali Hall at Meherazad, India that “we (the lovers of Meher Baba) are sufis by fact of loving the Sufi of our age”.

All I know is what I read in the bogus news

All I know is what I read in the bogus news:
this world and the next belong to Zionist Jews.

The jihadist will survive with bomb sewn in belly,
in new-found paradise graced with petroleum jelly.

Righteous Hindu will live forever mumbling Rig Veda,
proclaiming the eternal religion of Hindutva.

Faux Christian will rise on the one true Plastic Cross,
choiring for all time that white corporatist is boss.

Religious zeal will tuck us all into bed at night,
so we can dream of a world perfected by fright.

We will all wake up in pure radioactive heaven-
but some wearin’ hazmat suits-  the rest a gaspin’.

Darvish believes in a god who gets him so drunk,
he becomes as faithless and stateless as a skunk.

The black snake winds around the Missouri

The black snake winds around the Missouri
and chokes the Sioux Nation with misery.

Black venom slithers across sacred land,
but Water Protectors make a last stand.

Bullets and burning gas- grenades explode;
Big Fist shoots water canon in bitter cold.

Protectors hold fast, covered with red ice:
Love is strong medicine against avarice.

The treaties lie broken like twisted bodies
whose spirits rise in strong and pure cries.

The Big White Chief living in Washington-
has his heart gone black with forked tongue?

Darvish sings to the wind: carry my song
to those to whom truth and courage belong.

Ghazal #89 from Ghazals For The Friend

Drunk or smashed is all the same to our clear and sober mind;
the Friend’s name opens the heart’s eye and makes it to all else blind!

We swear we have no gods but fall prostrate at your pure feet:
please don’t look away when we knock at your door on love street!

The ocean wave rolls us battered into your delicate arms;
beloved, our gritty speech praises your resounding charm!

My longing wakes the dull pain of sleeping stone to cry,
“I once felt the sweet Master’s feet as he was passing by.”

The stars swing low and caress the lonely singer’s pain;
somewhere, the beloved’s sigh blesses the lover’s sad refrain.

Where in this bloody world can I find refuge from time’s curse;
how can I drown this moment to forever forget my thirst?

Darvish can never drink enough where beauty is concerned;
he sobs that his empty glass is proof that he will never learn.

“I am not the body…” Avatar Meher Baba

” I am not the body.
I am not the mind.
I am not this.
I am not that.
I am nothing but a living lie
of that truth that is me
and unless the lie is dead
the truth cannot be. “

Avatar Meher Baba
