All the pain behind your laugh and smile

All the pain behind your laugh and smile
Is your grace that destroys our vast denial.

What we long thought was your ocean of bliss,
We now know drowns us slowly kiss by kiss.

How can we sincerely cry out your name,
Unless waves of tears wash away our blame?

How can we see you, we see with gross eyes:
The world  singing in our face is all lies!

We have come to assert that only you exist-
But your sea-shadow continues to subsist.

A thousand times we gasp and gasp your name,
But the salt of our tears preserves our shame.

We will never see you- not with these eyes:
Blind Darvish to your shadow and all its lies!

“Now we know drowns us slowly kiss by kiss” Darvish

“And sometimes when the night is slow
the wretched and the meek
we gather up our hearts and go
a thousand kisses deep.

………and consented to be wrecked
a thousand kisses deep.” Leonard C
