This event chart is for 1/20/2021 at 12:00 noon at Washington DC. I am using the Lahiri sidereal zodiac. This chart helps set the themes for national politics for the next four years.
Joe Biden will be inaugurated according to long established custom on January 20th at 12:00 noon. It is unlikely that another time and place will be selected for this event as maintaining continuity of tradition will be paramount.
I should point out that because the date, time and place for the inauguration doesn’t vary, this chart always has Aries rising and Capricorn representing the 10th house, and that the Sun is always in the 10th. The other planets’ zodiacal positions vary, of course. Midday is always the preferred time for a coronation as the Sun, which represents the sovereign, is at its strongest and brightest.
The chart has the 20th degree of Aries rising with Mars, ruler of Aries, in Aries at the 13th degree. It is exactly conjunct Uranus. The Moon is also in Aries at 5 degrees. The chart thus has a double Aries ascendant as the Moon functions as a secondary ascendant. This fact reinforces the natural ascendant, i.e. makes it more powerful. There are three planets in this double Aries ascendant.
The most important house in this event chart- after the ascendant, is the 10th house, which represents the president assuming the office of the presidency. There are 5 planets in this house: Pluto, Sun, Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury. Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, is strongly placed here.
The ascendant- the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the time of an event chart, represents the occasion itself, i.e. the electorate or public inaugurating the president. It represents the mood of the nation.
The Aries ascendant with Mars exactly conjunct Uranus and also conjunct the Moon, which represents the public and homeland, is explosive- to say the least. It indicates a tremendously edgy and ambivalent electorate. The three planets are in the lunar constellation of Ashvini which is disposited by Ketu, placed in Scorpio, the 8th house of calamity. Mars aspects Ketu from the ascendant, and rules Scorpio. This further describes the public as disturbed and volatile.
The 10th house planets signify a powerful concentration of energies. The Sun rules the fifth house of cabinet, Saturn rules the 10th of the presidency and the 11th of Congress while Jupiter rules the 9th of the courts and the 12th of intelligence services. Mercury rules the 3rd of media and the 6th of the police and army. Pluto is also in the 10th, having just entered the sign Capricorn and will for the next four years- until the next general election, be approaching its natal placement in the July 4th, 1776 birthday chart. This is a “Pluto return” to its natal placement at 6 degrees Capricorn, the exact degree placement of the Sun in the inauguration chart. Both the Sun and Saturn here in the 10th house refer to the president: Saturn by rulership of the 10th, and the Sun as symbol for the ruling sovereign.
This is a rather heavy symbolism for the well-being, longevity and ruling powers of the president. The Sun- the president, is sandwiched between Pluto and Saturn which indicates a “rebirth” of the presidency and government: Pluto is catabolic, it breaks down and releases energy; Saturn and Capricorn refer to government and administration. Mercury rules the lunar constellation in which Ketu is placed, and thus connects the explosive energy of the ascendant (the public) and the 8th house (calamity) to the 10th house of the president. The Biden presidency (the Sun) will have to also endure the oppression of Congress (Saturn), and Jupiter is debilitated and thus offers diminished support.
The ongoing Pluto return in the US chart promises the death and rebirth of the national identity as this degree placement is the degree of the 12/21/2020 conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn (which sets the broader social agenda for the next 20 years) and is the degree placement of the Sun (the president) in the inauguration chart. This process will be at its most acute for the coming four years. In the US chart, Pluto by transit is aspecting Mercury in the 8th house of transformation; Mercury rules the 7th and 10th houses, and thus this will portend enormous changes in how the US relates to foreign nations, international trade and armed conflict abroad- all relative to the executive branch.
There is one more factor to consider: The US chart is in a planetary period in which Rahu will dominate the US chart for the coming decade. Rahu- along with Mercury, is in the 8th house, the house of calamity and transformation, and like Mercury is activated by the transiting conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, and by Pluto as well.
